Honoring our President and First Lady(#5)

1.When was our president sworn into office? January 20, 2009.

2. Tell me about our presidents parents and background. With a father from Kenya and a mother from Kansas, President Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961. He was raised with help from his grandfather, who served in Patton's army, and his grandmother, who worked her way up from the secretarial pool to middle management at a bank.

3. Tell me about First Lady Michelle Obama.She is Malia and Sasha's mom.
But before she was a mother — or a wife, lawyer, or public servant — she was Fraser and Marian Robinson's daughter.As First Lady, Michelle Obama looks forward to continuing her work on the issues close to her heart — supporting military families, helping working women balance career and family, and encouraging national service.

Honoring our Pastor

ii. Tell me about your pastor: My pastor is very honest and compassionate. He is married with 6 kids.

iii. Why is he important to you? My pastor is very important because he teaches me about life. And when i'm stuggling with something, he has a way with giving me advice.

2. Tell me about your pastor. My pastor is very funny and honest. He cares about us and what happens to us.

3. Why is he important to you? Because he preaches about stuff that I need to hear and he gives me advice through his sermon all the time.

Honoring our governor

1.When did Bobby Jindal become LA governor? October 20, 2007

2. Who is his wife? His children? Supriya Jindal. He has three children ages 7,5, and2.

3. Tell me about his wife, Supriya. Mrs. Jindal currently serves as the youngest first lady in the nation and is the only First Spouse in the country that holds a degree in engineering. Supriya has taken an interest in issues regarding children’s education, and enjoys encouraging children to build a strong foundation in math and science - no matter what path they hope to pursue in life.

2. What is his goal as mayor? To build an administration that will be a green light for solutions to traffic, safe neighborhoods, a quality education system and open government.

3. Where did our mayor go to college? LSU and Southern University.

Assignment #3 Family Scriptures

1) Exodus 20:12 "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land which the Lord your God is giving you."

2) Deuteronomy 12:28 "Be careful to obey all these regulations I am giving you, so that it may always go well with you and your children after you, because you will be doing what is good and right in the eyes of the LORD your God."

3) Proverbs 4:1 "Listen, my sons, to a father's instruction; pay attention and gain understanding."

4) Genesis 28:14 "In thee shall all families of the earth be blessed."

5) 1 Timothy 3:4 "He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect."


Yes. We do both feel that these scriptures describes us.

Assignment #1 Honoring Teachers


a. To honor teachers means to respect them and the rules they have.

b. We can honor teachers by listening to them when they talk and by obeying their rules.

c.  Some fond memories we have of BCS teachers are Rebecca: When we used to annoy Mrs. Diaz in English class by clicking our pens all the time. Especially when we did it every time she said a certain word. Kayla: Also in Mr. Baham's class when he would bring boxes of pizza into the computer lab after 220 club on Fridays but only shared once or twice even though we asked him all the time.

d.  Scripture:  I Peter 2:17 "Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king."

 

Assignment #2 Honor

Honor ( dictionary definiton ) - Honesty, fairness; High respect, as for worth, merit, or rank.

Kayla: I think honor is when you show someone respect. When you honor someone you show them how much you appreciate them.

Rebecca: I think honor is to respect people and show consideration for them and their feelings.

Scriptures:

James 4:10 "Humble yourselves before the Lord and He will lift you up in honor."

Psalms 62:7 "My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me."

Proverbs 18:12 " Haughtiness goes before destruction; humility precedes honor."

II Thessalonians 1:11a-12 " May he give you the power to accomplish all of the good things your faith prompts you to do. Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ."
